This is something that I wrote not long ago, it’s nothing special but better than some of my other works. When I read it back it sounded more like a song than a poem. Anyway, I’ll let you decide that.

Hold me close.

Thinking back to the day we met,
the sky lit bright, children laughing,
how can I forget?
The way you looked at me, smiling briefly,
it was then we knew.

Hold me close my darling dear,
your soothing voice whispers at my ear.
Trying so hard to remember why I’m here,
please hold me tighter and drain away all my fears.

But now you’re leaving me here behind,
you shun aside our memories of happiness and bliss.
I wish I could tell you the truth, and change your mind.
The way I stared into your teary eyes,
it was then we knew

Hold me close my darling dear,

Trying so hard to remember why I’m here,
please hold me tighter and drain away all my fears.

You think I’m about to just take off and go?
Take away the support and watch your walls crumble?
I’m not that kind, I’ll always be there to make you see.
Shake your shoulders, wipe your eyes
Then you’ll know.
